There are several home remedies to get rid of back acne and natural treatment for bacne scars.
Having acne on the face ain’t pleasant but Back acne also known as Bacne and chest acne seems worst
Acne, known less for its severity and more for the notoriety of the scars it leaves behind may sometimes require treatment for several months before the scars and spots are completely gone.
Acne vulgaris (or more simply known as acne) is a long term skin disease that occur when hair follicles become clogged with dead skin cells and oil from the skin.
Acne is a common in young people aged between 12 and 25 years. Boys are more likely to be affected by girls.
The reason for its common occurrence among people of this age group can simply be attributed to puberty which comes with increase in androgen level
During adolescence small sebaceous glands lying just under the skin surface make more sebum (secretions which keeps the skin smooth and moisturized) than during childhood due to hormonal changes of puberty.
Tiny pores in the skin allow the sebum to come on for the skin and since more hairs is produced during puberty, the hair follicles become clogged leading to acne outbreaks.
Acne may range from mild to moderate i.e. blackheads, whiteheads and small pimples. While in rare cases we can have moderate to severe acne with larger spots and inflammation due to growth and multiplication known as propionibacterium acnes in trapped sebum. Inflammation may occur causing the surrounding skin to become red with larger spots filled with pus. It might even form small nodules and cysts in some cases.
As severe as this might sound, acne spots heal eventually but not until they have done enough damage to cause the discoloration of the skin even after several months that the inflammation has gone. (post-inflammatory hyper pigmentation) this is often more noticeable in darker skinned people. Also a scar is commonly left on the skin in areas where one has had an inflamed spot. These small scars often do not fade fully and sometimes may be a source of concern for individuals who has had cases of inflammation in the past.
What is Back Acne?
Back acne (otherwise known as bacne) is a case of acne that occurs on the skin of the back. As said earlier cases of back acne and any other acne for that matter is very much treatable. What however usually pose a problem to those who suffer or have suffered from acne in the past is the scar left behind after the inflammation.
Back acne scars may include any of the following: hyper-pigmentation, contour irregularities, ice pack scars, hypertrophic scars etc.
The mode of treatment of bacne scars depend on the type of scar. If the problem for example is hyper pigmentation a combination of chemical peels and bleaching creams will be effective. If the problem however is textural, using a combination of lasers E-matrix and fraxel might be used in cases of redness.
For thickened scars, injections of kenalog may be used. Also fractional Carbon dioxide resurfacing can be used but only in the most experienced hands. In cases of dispersed scars, TCA peeling can be effective
Please not that all medical treatments of back acne should be employed under the strict advice and supervision of competent medical personals.
Causes of Bacne
Genetics: In more than 80% of cases, genetics is attributed as then cause. Acne primarily affects skin with a greater number of oil glands which is a function of genetic makeup rather than any external cause.
Hormones: during puberty, production of androgens such as testosterone increase production of sebum and skin hair which culminates to cause cases of acne.
Exposure to chemicals such as halogenated hydrocarbons can also be a causative factor.
Other causes of bacne include foods with high glycemic load, overactive oil gland and emotional stress
Bacne could be made worse by picking and squeezing spots, heavy sweating, medication such as phenytoin and steroids and some ointments and creams.
Contrary to some people’s belief acne is not caused by poor hygiene, in fact excessive washing during outbreak has been known to make it worse.
Also, many seem to think of acne as a skin infection this is not so, acne is a product of a rather complex interaction between changing hormones, sebum, overgrowth of normally harmless germs and inflammation hence it is not contagious.
